I read an interesting article with pictures bright light recently that I found really impressive. The art in the images is important and with bold and interesting textures on the wall a modern feel. Some of the sculptural works made sense to them with interactive water jets spray up or flowed like rain or waterfalls. Overall, it was a beautiful installation art … except it was not was bathroom.
Some products that have emerged in recent years in the field of design bathroom are quite beautiful. The vast size, solid, freestanding carved marble sinks look like pieces of abstract sculpture with elements of water. The minimalist shower with mosaic tile and glass shower of rain are more like water fountains that elegant places to wash in the morning. They are big and bold and innovative.
For those who have money to spend on these unique works of functional art, there are many interesting pieces there to choose from. Few about any item you want to find in a bathroom you can find in a sculptural version. There are varieties of stone carved porcelain sculpture, ceramics, glass, bronze. Due to the fine quality of many of these items and the quantity of some of them many of these items are rather expensive though.
For those of us who are accustomed to a much simpler form of toilets well, I see some culture shock might be inevitable if one is in such an institution.
The only drawback I can see some these fixtures and designs is what I like to call "The Seashell experience." Take the movie Demolition Man, for everyone who do not remember this piece particularly striking in the history of film, the main character wakes up after spending 40 years in animation suspended and quickly discovers that the future that has awakened lighting has evolved new bathroom he does not understand how to use. The only clue is a fixture set of three shell-shaped where the toilet paper should be. At least he comes out and admits he does not understand the process, how the rest of us just spend the afternoon fiddle with the controls, too embarrassed to go out?
After reading some of the items sculptural design, I worry a little bit of me in one of those sumptuously decorated, bathrooms and not knowing how to turn on the water or flush but I suppose that as long as nobody confuses an elegant and dramatic piece of art for the dresser that's all good.
