Archaeology Question: Where did they get the gold from?
I had been to a museum last week which had collections dating from the ancient British Columbia. For example: Greeks, Romans, and many European cultures which have mostly gold items jewelry, coins and small decorative objects. Now, my question is where they found the raw gold meterial, where they mine gold?
Most of the gold came from either of these civilizations of Nubia in Africa or the Balkan peninsula. There were numerous deposits of the Red Sea as well.
