Any questions about fairy tales?

I started a study of fairy tales written in the post-medieval to the pre-industrial era. As part of what I have seen that in many cases the hero or heroine is often classified as fine or convertible, so much more than the melee. My question is what the authors of these stories using a description of physical beauty as a literary cheat to describe their personality? For example, only, Belle of Beauty and the Beast (Version De Beaumont) is described as physically beautiful, but history shows that it is a very kind and caring person, holding a lot of passion and loyalty to his friends and family. Then the authors of these stories using a visual image to convey character traits? Please explain. Thank you in advance.

This an interesting question. The short answer, I believe, is yes. I think it has something to do with spirituality and a "well within" – The Christian ideal that goodness is rewarded by the beauty, or goodness of the soul radiates natural beauty. I think is also a literary device. Fairy tales are drawn from folk tales that were originally oral. The skeleton of tales, we recalled from person to person, but each individual storyteller add his or (usually) his details. Nobody wants to root for a heroine ugly (unless it is really a beautiful princess, a plain unfair curse, etc.). These stories have also wanted to give a moral message. The audience it seeks to get the moral message, and since we all want to be beautiful, we want to be like heroin, which heroin is beautiful (or handsome hero). It is also easier for the listener if everyone good and everyone is pretty bad, ugly. You do not you remember who is who. Remember, in a largely illiterate society, these stories were not read – they were not really writing until Grimm he did in 1830 – they were so explicit in his hand. There are exceptions. Stepmother of Snow White was "the best of land "until Snow White hit puberty. It was evil and beautiful. So I do not think heroin BATB DeBeaumont name Belle. I think the only beauty named Belle was the Disney version. People serious about fairy tales usually hate Disney.
