Interesting History of Roman Britain
When you next travel in Britain, you can not help seeing that Great Britain has a history fascinating back thousands of years.
Unfortunately many people living in present times know nothing or very little to subject, then we'll help you.
Its all about Kings and Queens, and different people who have helped shape the current state of things in Britain.
Britain is not a single country but a union of four nations, which is why it is called the Great, and of course he ex-colonies and expatriates around the world to make its current mix of different communities across the world in the United Kingdom.
The first signs of humanity in the British Isles (Yes – Great Britain is an island) seems to be around 4000 BC in the age stone.
No literature of course exists for this time, but many artifacts of stone age were found both on the tip of Cornwall in the south to the north of Scotland and their legacy main Stonehenge in Wiltshire in southern England and it is really one of the seven wonders of England, no doubt.
The other place that is always overlooked is Avebury. In Avebury you will not find a large structure, like Stonehenge, but you will find the remains of a temple or something that has been built over 2000 years ago and why why it is not yet known.
Later in the history of this type of stones were used for the manufacture of houses and roads, etc.
After the Stone Age came the Iron Age (1500 BC to 43 AD) and thereafter the men began to use of iron tools and also became more aggressive, the manufacture of metal weapons, then the different groups and families need more protection groups and families.
Trip to Maiden Castle in Dorset, which is still a good example and you will see evidence of all these things.
Around 150 BC – Trade began between England and the continent. The quotation used to commodities such as tin, finished as silver and gold, wine, pottery and coins and even slaves.
Julius Caesar came to Britain in 55 BC, but only managed to establish a temporary beachhead. After a failed attempt the following year, the Romans have left well alone for Britain a century until the Romans returned in force in 43 AD.
There were more than 20 different kingdoms in total in Britain at that time and with no possible coalition agreement with the other, it is very easy for the Romans to invade Britain and attack the feudal kingdoms one at a time and make them disappear.
Less than a year, the Romans had conquered much of Britain and 60 after JC controlled most of Britain south of the Humber River.
A revolt of the Iceni tribe led by their now Anglia Queen Boadicea was then crushed by the superior military knowledge and capacity of the Romans.
After that they built a network roads and migrate north in Scotland and has failed to fix and could harm the Celts, so they built a massive wall known as Hadrian's Wall in 122 AD from Newcastle to Carlisle you can still visit today during your travels.
The other wall they have built the Antonine Wall, was not wall itself, but just a wall of grass in the Lowlands (Glasgow to Edinburgh). It was launched in 142 AD and abandoned in 163 AD.
You can also still see the Roman mosaics with which they used to decorate their villages in many museums.
Roman Britain benefited of a fairly quiet until about 300 AD when he was attacked by many European countries barbarian hordes and also on the northern front in Great Britain by Scots and the Picts.
The Romans held to repel their attackers on both sides and in 410 AD Emperor Constantine removed his British army to defend any the Roman Empire at the Rhine frontier from invasion.
The various cities of Great Britain had to defend themselves and the Romans never returned.
